2005 meme

Okay, this was originally a 2003 meme gacked from [livejournal.com profile] m_l_h but I've changed it so it's for this year ;)

1. What did you do in 2005 that you'd never done before?

Went away to Romania for 2 weeks with the young teens n' 20s to build houses as part of Habitat for Humanity; very worthwhile & purposeful experience :)

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?

I have a feeling it was to eat less chocolate but I say that every year. Really need to do it this year because there's gonna be 2 family weddings this coming summer I've to go to & I don't wanna go looking like a beached whale, so I'll need to get into better shape too!

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?

No.

4. Did anyone close to you die?
No, thankfully.

5. What countries did you visit?

England, Ireland, Wales, Hungary & Romania.

6. What would you like to have in 2006 that you lacked in 2005?

A significant other...

7. What date from 2005 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?

Probably the banter with the teens from church at every mealtime in Romania & having a laugh with Paul McGann in Cardiff. :D Also Christmas & Boxing Day up at my cousins where I was laughing so hard my throat hurt!

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?

Getting into the 2 year HND course for Animal Management I'm doing at the moment.

9. What was your biggest failure?

Probably failing my GCSE Maths exam, again for like the 4th attempt at repeating it - I just can't do it!!

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?

Yep; really wrecked my back in October - turned out I twisted my pelvis & had to go to the chiropractor x3 to get it fixed. It really hurt, like someone was stabbing the lower part of my back every time I tried to move.

11. What was the best thing you bought?

Probably an 8th Doctor novel when I went to Cardiff & got it signed by Paul McGann, so it's personalized - I've yet to read it though! 0_0

12. Whose behaviour merited celebration?

Probably the girls from [livejournal.com profile] libraryrefugees and [livejournal.com profile] pmgsdiary who've had me in stitches for various hours reading their posts! Thanks guys! :D And everyone else on my f-list. *hugs*

13. Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed?

Those responsible for 7th July London bombings & George W. Bush about the whole Hurricane Katrina disaster; said that he'd help and oh shock!never did.

14. Where did most of your money go?

Probably the trip to Cardiff.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?

Going to see PMG in November :)

16. What song will always remind you of 2005?

Mmmm, probably James Blunt's You're Beautiful.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:

i. happier or sadder? I think a little happier :)
ii. thinner or fatter? I honestly don't know, but I reckon it's the latter!
iii. richer or poorer? A little bit richer :)

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?

Studying.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?

Being online loads, putting up with my boss where I used to work, who was a bit intimidating & was making excuses about where some of my earnings were disappearing off to!

20. How will you be spending Christmas?

With family.

22. Did you fall in love in 2005?

Nope.

23. How many one-night stands?

Zilch.

24. What was your favourite TV program?

Doctor Who, definately - roll on March 2006!! :D

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?

I don't like to say it, but probably my brother that little bit more since he irritates the hell out of me all the time, but when he's being nice, that'll probably change.

26. What was the best book you read?

I'm going to say The Green Mile ;)

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?

Didn't really have one this year.

28. What did you want and get?

To go to Cardiff to see PMG & came away a very happy, very satisfied fangirl. ;)

29. What did you want and not get?

Love.

30. What was your favourite film of this year?

I didn't really see a lot of movies this year at the cinema but probably the best was Harry Potter & the Goblet of Fire, followed by Wallace & Gromit: the Curse of the Wererabbit. Best film I discovered this year DVD wise was The Green Mile (followed very closely by The Shawshank Redemption) and it's remained my fave movie ever.

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?

Not a lot, took the day off work and the day after that - made a long weekend of it - and I turned 19.

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?

I don't know.

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2005?

Just grab the first thing that's available.

34. What kept you sane?

Everyone on my f-list. :) And my family.

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?

Paul McGann - who else? ;) Followed by The other 3 McGann brothers (Joe, Mark + Stephen), Christopher Eccleston, John Barrowman & David Tennant. Um...that's quite a lot LMAO.

36. What political issue stirred you the most?

Probably the London bombings in July; was that political????? :\

37. Who did you miss?

My family when I was in Romania for a fortnight.

38. Who was the best new person you met?

[livejournal.com profile] pamdram, [livejournal.com profile] charleygirl (?) and Sara (aka Scorpio from the McGann Library) in the Forbidden Planet store in Cardiff, just before I headed upstairs to see Paul & then bumped into [livejournal.com profile] pippinandmerry who happened to be in Cardiff on the same day, though we'd arranged to meet there in the first place! ;)

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2005.

Don't let anyone try and change you or else you won't be you.

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.

"You raise me up to more than I can be" - Westlife, You Raise Me Up.

Wheeeeee! ;) I laugh far too much at all the antics - the pair of them are great :D And I think my family must think I'm mad, sitting here in the corner giggling to myself, and quite often, laughing really loudly! 0_0
