Stupid police/insurance company...
My granda's car was stolen a few months ago - was in his driveway, with the crooklock on it and everything. Bizarrely, the next door neighbours' car (practically the same type) was sitting without one, yet it wasn't touched. Anyways, car got nicked and turned up a few days later, however it had been completely engulfed in flames - set alight. The police say the reason it was set alight may have been because whoever stole it (little shits probably) were perhaps doing drugs so destroying the car obviously would mean destroying any evidence...
Because of this, the police said they'd need to take the car away to do forensic tests on it etc although my granda I thik didn't really want any fuss about; didn't say that they could take it away in the first place. I think as well there's some payment on storing the car and they said they'd deal with that no problem. Now though, they're claiming they did't say they'd deal with the storage payment (or whatever you call it, but I hope you know what I'm talking about ;)) and that my granda would have to pay for storing the wrecked car, despite the fact that he didn't tell/ask them to take it away in the first place!
He's been told to pay up about £600 or so which he has done, and shouldn't have had to, but we are being told that if he wants that money back he will have to pay more to get that original £600 back that the insurance place or whoever owe HIM. My granda will be 90 in a few years and doesn't need shit like this - not impressed. Why should he pay for something the dumb force they call police said they'd sort out and claim not to?!?!
I think it's mainly to do with him getting the car back, but what the hell use is a burnt out car? Why should he have to pay for it when it was stolen from his own driveway?!
*fist*
Oh, and the stupid police apparently haven't gotten back to us - yet - if the car had ever contained drugs and that being the reason why it was destroyed. And my 16 year old brother is now telling me to stop getting involved - hello?? He's my granda too and maybe you don't care but I DO.
