- I liked it. I liked it a lot...♥ed all the action in this one. :D
- I adored the build up to Horatio's wedding to Mariah; his nerves getting the best of him during his final hours as a single man and him running into the toilet to throw up, then claiming to William Bush it was due to "a bad egg..." when Bush witnessed his full breakfast plate being taken away beforehand. ;)
- Bush trying to reassure Horatio in the church, telling him he can still cancel the wedding if he wants to and HH replying that he'd given Mariah "my word".
- William organising the whole sailor-drawn carriage out of the churchyard and running alongside it. ;) :D
- Mrs Mason in the background at the reception, clearly asking "You're not married/You're unmarried then, Mr Bush?" and poor William leaning away from her with a slight help me look on his face *snicker* ;D
- HH: "Were you up all night preparing the ship, Mr Bush?"
Bush: "No sir; not quite all night. Were you up all night with Mariah?" ;)
- I thought it was weird that this ep was given a PG rating and yet you see the boat with Bracegirdle & co. being blown up...o___O
- Also found it strange that Greg Wise is listed in this episode, on the back of the DVD cover, and yet there's no sign of him lol!!
- Matthews and Orrock almost getting crushed to death by the falling cannon had me shouting RUN!!! at the screen!!
- Bush shhh-ing Orrock ;) :p Rowr! :D
- Bush giving Horatio that eyebrow. ;)
- HH putting out the cannonball/bomb thing with the gloves Mariah made for him heehee ;) And the look the lads standing nearby give him when he extinguishes it :D
- William looking a little sad when Horatio tells him off for not shooting Wolfe, then getting his chance to achieve this later when Wolfe sneaks the pistol from beneath the back of his trousers to trying to kill Horatio again.
- The build-up at the end when Horatio learns he's going to be a daddy & his reaction when he finally catches on to what Mariah's going on about :) Aaaaaw - baby Hornblower! :D ♥ ♥ ♥

And poor Maria! I know people say she's not worthy of Horatio and all, but I feel sorry for her. Of course I'd be the same way if I were in her shoes - she's a lucky clever woman to snag him! But how sad that their marriage is so awkward, and Horatio is just so fumbling and awkward at giving her any affection, and doesn't spend much time with her at all, and awwww....!

Funnily enough this was my second viewing, since 2003, when it was first shown on TV!! It's been so long since I saw it but was able to remember that the episode ended on that happy note :)

I pity her too. She's a lovely woman & will make a good loyal wife for Horatio but somehow you just can't sense that he married her because he wanted to or out of true love etc. I do think he loves her to a certain extent, just not as much as he could have if you know what I mean. I think he says himself that he married her as it was his 'duty' etc. Perhaps baby!Hornblower might help close that gap a bit and bring them closer together :)

Oooh yes I thought that was well done *nods* - you could see his horror at what they had just witnessed & they were so close to being saved...:( I liked Bracegirdle, and he knew the end was coming and faced it.

"They're throwing the bloody guns at us now, sir!"
and, when Bracegirdle claims that climbing is 'but a stroll'
"Begging your pardon, sir, but it's a bloody great cliff!"
And I love Wolfe shouting at the French soldiers and lapsing into English when he wants to be really rude about them.
:D
Only downside...Betsy-wetsy Bonaparte. *shudders*

As demonstrated in your icon lol ;) He's bracing himself for the 'scolding' & doesn't argue back; he accepts what Horatio's telling him but at least he can redeem this near the end :D I was glad he got that chance! :)

Aww, I don't think I ever noticed Bush wiping his eyes before Hornblower scolds him. But apparently Paul does that a lot, too. In interviews and stuff, he's often seen rubbing his eyes or his face. In one of the Hornblower extras, I kept thinking, "Is something wrong with Paul's eye? Speck of dirt on his contact lens?" I kept wishing he'd stop! ;D
