According to IMDB:

Weisz Drops Out of 'The Mummy 3'

'The Constant Gardener Oscar winner Rachel Weisz has turned down a role in The Mummy 3, leaving her co-star Brendan Fraser without an on-screen wife. Weisz and Fraser played love interests Evelyn Carnahan O'Connell and Rick O'Connell in Stephen Sommers' Egyptian action movies The Mummy and The Mummy Returns. While Fraser has signed on to star in a second sequel, Weisz is unable to commit due to a scheduling conflict. The Fast And The Furious director Rob Cohen is set to take over from Sommers for the third movie, which is scheduled for release next year.'

Looks like it's definate then... :( And Sommers isn't directing this time round either - I sense disaster for this one since some of you told me that John Hannah and Oded Fehr aren't returning either...oh boy...

Dude, John Hannah and Sommers aren't returning either?

...Then what's the point of making another movie at all?

John Hannah's not gonna be in it?! What's the point then?

I was quite disappointed with "The Mummy 2" (although, the first one was really cool) so I probably won't be seeing this.

Exactly, though the funny thing is, on it's IMDB page, it has Rachel listed hahah. :\

And you do know that the story isn't about the regular mummy right? Jet Li's in it so it's supposed to take place in China...

So...

No Evie.
No Ardeth Bay.
No Jonathon.
No Imhotep.
No Egypt stuff.
No Steven Sommers... and instead the guy that directedThe Fast and the Furious?!?

Oh dear.

I love Jet Li, but not even he seems like he could save this movie. Hopefully it's not awful though... o_O

I like The Mummy Returns but I think the original is better, although Returns has more Oded Fehr (Ardeth Bay) ;) But yeah, apparently this 3rd film has the son Alex unearthing a Chinese emperor or something...eh...I'm doubtful on this one.

*headdesk* It hasn't even started filming yet and already it sounds like it's going to bomb...I love Brendan Fraser so because I'm shallow :P I might go see it anyway hahah. ♥

If it does suck, then I'll probably do what I did when I saw the 3rd Terminator film; just pretend it didn't exist since The Terminator & T2: Judgement Day were both brilliant. :p

Hmm, not really liking the idea at all. How long's it been since the 2nd movie anyway?

Returns was 2001, so 6 years (although it'll be out in 2008, 7 years then), whereas there was only about a 2 year gap between it and The Mummy (1999). I feel they may have left it too long...

Yeah, I was thinking that it's been too long but then they're doing another Indy movie and it's been how many years!

Yeah, that sounds about right.

Maybe when it comes to making sequels, it's never too long.

Sounds exactly like me with Blade Trinity. I LOVE Blade II SO MUCH that that movie really doesn't exist in my mind. Once my sister said something about Blade 3 and I was like "What?... There's no Blade 3" and I had ACTUALLY forgot there was one. The longer you tell yourself, the easier it is to believe. ;)

I tried watching T3, but I wasn't paying attention... I got the feeling I didn't even need to though. *explosion* *lady terminator kills some ppl* *explosion* *killing* and so on. :P
