I just went downstairs to switch on our internet connection again but had to turn on the light to see where I was going. The light bulb exploded, sparks fell down near me and get this, the light bulb landed on the settee, from a diagonal angle...

Otherwise you couldn't have made it to the Net connection, switched it on and started blogging to us ...

Look on the bright side, then :)

And have someone with electrical training look at it. It doesn't sound healthy. :(

Lol yeah I'm ok thanks, just made me go O__O!! It may be the circuit because I tried our downstairs hall light (so as not to disturb the parents who are in bed) and it didn't come on. Hmmm.

That does sound like the circuit. If I were you, I'd get an electrician out to look at it; light-bulbs blowing up and hurling themselves violently round the house does not sound healthy...
