A few questions for Hornblower fans

I've been sort of thinking recently about whether or not I should buy the Hornblower series...I've only caught about 3 episodes or so on telly about 2 years back (although I did enjoy them)...

How many episodes are there altogether by the way and does anyone think I should get them or even a few to start me off? What episodes even, would you recommend? Am rather curious about the whole series :) and I partially blame Ioan Gruffudd, Paul McGann (especially!!) and Jamie Bamber - too many pretty icons and screencaps floating around - haha! But seriously I love stuff like this (periodic wars/stuff) and recommendations would be really appreciated.

You should definitely invest in the whole series. I would love to be able to pick out my favourites, but they're all great in their own ways. And if those are your 3 faves, you should get the whole series.

:) Thanks. I think I've seen about 3 eps in total, one of which I recently discovered was Mutiny, I think that's the one where the lads go and blow up a fort...but I enjoyed that. :D

But, I went and read a spoiler about poor wee Archie by complete accident! I suppose it won't come as a total shock when I sit down and watch the series though. :p

Erm, roughly how many eps is there altogether??

There's 8 episodes all together, Mutiny is a two-parter with Retribution. Archie is fantastic in those two, if only he'd been as good in the rest of the series lol!

Sorry to be a pain, but are all the episodes separate to buy or is there some sort of a boxset? I see they are separate on play.com but don't wanna have to fork out £7.99 for each of them.......:S

You can get a box set of the first 6, and then a boxset of the whole 8. You can buy them individually too, but I presume the box set is cheaper.
