I - Titanic
1. It's a beautiful love story - the kind of love we all want but rarely find.
2. I happen to live in the city where she was built - Belfast - and can't help but feel pride whenever Victor Garber's character (Thomas Andrews) rubbishes a crew member's excuses for the lifeboats not being completely filled by mentioning the city: "They were tested in Belfast with the weight of seventy men, now fill these lifeboats Mr Lightoller for G*d's sake man!"
3. My birthday is the 14th April, the same day the ship struck the iceberg that proved to be her downfall.
4. The soundtrack is brilliant; very haunting & I ♥ the Irish Uilleann pipes throughout it.
5. Probably the first movie I saw who had a redheaded lead female character & made me immediately proud to have red hair myself! :D
II - Doctor Who
1. Christopher Eccleston - enough said! ;) :D
2. David Tennant - enough said - is it the 15th April yet?!?!? *drums fingers*
3. It reigned Saturday night television for about 3 months last year (was the thing I looked forward to watching most come each Saturday; I was always counting down the hours til each episode would start), beating off stiff competition from ITV - BRING. IT. ON! ;)
4. All the fun adventures in time and space; something I'd never seen before until this time last year when the series was brought back - I fell in ♥ with the series immediately.
5. The brilliant 2-part season finale with the return of the Daleks - I was afraid to watch half the time, especially with those space-walking Daleks that exterminated Lynda with a 'y' from outside & cried when Doc numero 9 departed from us & Doc numero 10 was introduced to us :D
III - Hornblower (the tv series, haven't read the books...yet :p)
1. All the pretty men running round on deck! ;) *squeethud*
2. Hornblower himself - he knows his duty & will do it without question; think of the scene in Duty where he automatically dives on top of the ignited bomb & puts it out with his hands, saving the entire ship and his crew & states later that the shell simply "failed to explode" rather than saying it was he who put it out & that's why it didn't go off...
3. I love seeing how he progresses from "...a young, nervous midshipman..." to Captain at such a young age, all in a couple of years. :D
4. The Mutiny & Retribution 2 parter, it was so well done - just how did Sawyer end up in the hold? ;) Did he fall or was he pushed (I personally think he fell)?
5. William Bush - one of my 4 fave characters (the others being Horatio Hornblower, Edward Pellew & of course wee Archie Kennedy). Played brilliantlly by Paul McGann; I could listen to him shouting orders all day! ;) ♥ the guy; gentle natured & is genuinely pleased that Hornblower was premoted above him to Captain :D
IV - Harry Potter (books)
1. Fred & George Weasley - they always have me in stitches! ♥ them!
2. The current build up as to who's going to die in the last book - IT HAD BETTER NOT BE HARRY!!
3. Voldemort - one of the most evil & unfeeling villians I've ever read about.
4. The little mentions of Harry's mum and dad - like finding out about his past & his parents.
5. Ron Weasley & Hermione Granger; who wouldn't want best buds like these two?!
V - Queen (as in the band/group)
1. Good original music. :D
2. Freddie Mercury - the greatest music showman ever in my opinion. *nods* Fantastic voice, extraordinary talent & died far too young (only 45 or 46 I think).
3. The entire band had talent: all wrote the music, all wrote songs/lyrics, all played several instruments each - you just don't get a group like that nowadays.
4. Brilliant live in concert; never thought I'd get to see them perform but got the chance last May with Mum and Dad when they came to Belfast (well, Roger Taylor & Brian May with a guest singer by the name of Paul Rodgers) but they put on a fantastic show, and even got Roger Taylor's autograph afterwards!
5. Their songs, some fantastic pieces of work, especially Bohemian Rhapsody which in itself, has been voted one of the greatest songs of all time, written by Freddie himself :) I need to hunt out my Queen compilation tapes again.....
VI - period dramas
VII - Most Haunted
VIII - Sharpe
IX - Lord of the Rings
X - Friends
