It was nearing midnight and the Prime Minister was sitting alone in his office, reading a long memo that was slipping through his brain without leaving the slightest trace of meaning behind. I get dressed and make my way downstairs to build a fire in the back room. It was a skeleton, bound together with horsehair ropes and hung from a pole so that its dry bones rattled in the brisk west wind. "Knows how to hold his tongue." Because fate cannot be cheated, it governs us, and we are all its slaves.

Interesting last line...;)

Book #1: Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince - JK Rowling
Book #2: Broken Music - Sting
Book #3: Enemy of God - Bernard Cornwell
Book #4: Chocolat - Joanne Harris
Book #5: The Lords of the North - Bernard Cornwell
